HIGHLIGHTS

Legend has it that before becoming a devta, it was a powerful danav- a non-human therefore he is also called dani. He used to torture people. Once he followed a man of Lag Valley named Dodu who was very brave. He faced the danav bravely. Dadu won and made the demon his servant. He met Shani who took with him and converted him into a devta. He went to attain siddhis (divine powers) to Maha Chin (China) and from Maha Chin came to Spiti and was known as Ajayapal. Vashisht is the pilgrimage centre of the devta. Jurisdiction of the devta extends over Bulang and Jhakdi villages. Old temple of the deity has been constructed in traditional style in wood and stone. Devta has a slanting rath with 14 mohras. Deity appears in the dreams of the followers as a shepherd.
